So it is christmas. I've been reading Gerhard Richter's writings 1962-1993. The Daily Practise of Painting. I wish I had the energy to write about what my thoughts on it have been, but maybe it's better I do it when I've finished it. I can say I've been enjoying it to some degree, and it seems a book I'll read soon again.
I had a dream of painting last night, again. Don't really remember that much of what it was that I painted, but I think I was more thinking, of what I had in front of me, than actually doing something to the canvas. These kind of dreams are more common for me. I don't see myself doing, but thinking of what I've done.
Last two nights I've been staying up watching Andrey Tarkovsky-movies. Last night I saw The Mirror, which is absolutely brilliant, but most definetily needs to be seen more than once in order to be understood in a way meant. At least, so I think. The poetry recited there, for example, passed my eyes very often. I don't understand russian almost at all, and the subtitles were fading to rapidly.
And Nostalghia... It made me want to go to Italy, very much.

I want to go back to Lahti; to paint.
I'm going to see drunken people tonight... Here, in Savo. I am: 'designated driver'. Khhh-hah.

Hell-Oh.

Last two months have been hellish. I've been living at my school, sleeping on a couch, because they're renovating my plumming-system and building me a shower at my place. I haven't been posting either because of that. This time of year is so fucking depressing here, the people look very grim and I just wanted to hide myself under a blanket for these dark times, but hadn't the possibility. But now, hopefully they'll finish the apartment before christmas, so I can isolate myself and maybe just write to this blog for some weeks or so...

Eli maalataan täällä Imatralla kahdeksan tuntia päivässä ja tänään olisi voinut maalata ilta-aurinkoakin... Mutta me finski studentit ostettiin kaljaa, käytiin Imatralaisten finski studentien kanssa istumassa nuotion äärellä tuijottelemassa tuleen. Ja nyt haukottelen jo puoliunessa.
Riina haluaa lisätä että se on tosi filmaattinen.

Tomorrow I will no longer get to paint on these walls... Instead I will be involved with another kind of painting-project; I'm going tomorrow morning to Imatra to a painting-course held by Russian teachers from St. Petersbourg.
We'll spend a few days in Imatra, painting with students from Imatra Art School and Russia. From there we'll come to Lahti propably on next thursday for 4-5 days. After Lahti we'll move to Imatra again, and from there to St. Petersbourg. In Pietari we'll be for a couple of days. Allready looking forward to that.

As you can see, it was a windy, but also a beautiful second day of working with the tunnel.
It's been fun, but tiring as well...

What's gone is gone.

I decided to put these pictures of the tunnel before it was sand-blown here, just in case anyone should want to see what was in it. I myself like to look at pictures of street-art, so I might as well put my own pictures here.

An Architects Dream

So, they cleaned the tunnel today, and on monday we'll be working on the painting.

Tuo karnevalistisuus hieman häiritsee minua kun (ja samalla tori on yhtynyt yhteiseen 'lailalailalailailailai'-hin) haluaisin keskittyä kirjaston levyihin:

A Study for a Self-Portrait

so these are from my exhibition in siilinjärvi, 26.6.-14.7. 2006. It's this small place and I was living there some time ago. That's when I asked for the space. These pictures aren't that good but maybe they show enough.. Well, I'm happy with the outcome, and I heard some good comments so it wasn't a total waste of time.. he.

Walls

Tässä yksi tulevan kesän projekteista. Tällä hetkellä pohdimme minkälaista maalipintaa tähän kohteeseen tekisimme. Tunneli on hienolla paikalla satama-alueen ja Pikku-Veskun välillä.

Olen muuten miettinyt paljon että SHOULD I kuitenkin WRITE suomeksi, IN FINNISH, mutta päätynyt aina samaan 'molempi parempaan'. Eli kirjoittamisessani koen tarpeelliseksi pitkien suomen kielellä tapahtuvien selontekojen kirjoittamisen, mutta myös pyrkimyksen kirjoittaa olennainen muillakin kielillä.
